History
Ever since its foundation in 1977 by Mr. Werner Lizen, CIP has been a constant value on the real estate market. Based on the three pilars of prime location, top quality construction and state-of-the-art architecture, the CIP real estate philosophy has proved succesful throughout the years. CIP’s development of residential and business real estate has delivered great value to investors, companies and end-users in Belgium and Luxembourg. The great success of the most recent CIP project, de impressive Kop van Kessel-Lo site in Leuven, again shows that even after over 30 years, CIP is still “Defining Development”.
After several successful years on the residential market of Antwerp, CIP moved to Brussels in order to anticipate on the changing markets of the 1980′s. The company started developing high standard Corporate Buildings as well as Business Parks with facility centres near Brussels Airport. In addition, CIP also directed its focus on special developments for clients such as Bentley, Massive and Medical Research Laboratories. This proved to be a valid strategy throughout the last decennia of the 20th Centrury.
In 2001 Hans Goessens joined the company as Managing Director and participated in the CIP group of companies.
In 2002 the time was right to enter the Luxemburg market. With the development of Plaza Grande Duchesse and the renovation of the manor Villa Grande Duchesse, CIP gradually gained footing on the market of high-end corporate developments. With prime location and design being two pivotal elements in its expansion, CIP managed to win a prestigious competition organised by ‘Fonds de Kirchberg’ twice. Its goal was to develop office buildings with a commercial ground floor.
Another milestone for CIP in Luxemburg was the building of Rocade A. Well situated between the railway station and the city centre of Luxemburg City, this building consists of 2 hotels (Sofitel counting 130 rooms and Novotel 151), luxurious apartments and an office building of approximately 22,000 sqm. The office building was acquired by KanAm and rented to Arcelor Mittal as their headquarters.
A new chapter in CIP’s success story began with the development of L’UNICO, which found completion in 2007, followed by AXENTO in 2009.
Over the past years, CIP developed the large scale Urban Redevelopment Project ‘Kop van Kessel-Lo’ in Leuven. This project has been a huge success story, creating real estate of high value in a vital new part of the city where living, working, staying and shopping go hand in hand. Symbolically, it is from this strategic location (on the east side of the Central Railway Station in Leuven) that CIP is currently operating.
